November election for three seats on the city council

PUBLIC NOTICE OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF ABBEVILLE

Notice is hereby given for a municipal election to be held at 215 South Depot Street, Abbeville, Georgia 31001 on November 5, 2024, to fill the seats of three (3) members of the Abbeville City Council.

Candidates shall qualify to fill the aforementioned seats at City Hall located at 215 South Depot Street, Abbeville, Georgia 31001. Qualifying will be held between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. on July 30, 2024, through August 1, 2024. For more information contact (229) 467-3201. Candidates may qualify by either of the following methods:

a.)   Filing a Notice of Candidacy and paying a set qualifying fee to the Election Superintendent or designated agent for the desired office as follows:

City Council Member: $65.00

b.)   Filing a Notice of Candidacy, a Qualifying Petition and a Pauper’s Affidavit affirming under oath the candidate’s poverty or inability to pay the qualifying fee with the Municipal Election Superintendent or designated agent.

All polls within the City of Abbeville shall be opened at 7:00 A.M. and shall remain open continuously until 7:00 P.M. for the General Election pursuant to Official Code of Georgia Section 21-2-403.
